Description
This magnificent 5 bedroom house nestles into the headland cliff between Kefalas & Likotinara. The surrounding scenery is amazing with clear views of Rethymno town and its mountain backdrop, across the turquoise sea and sandy beaches of Georgiopolis coastline and further to Lake Kournas then with the peaks of the majestic White Mountains rising above the villages of Likotinara and Selia. From all points in the house the views are stunning.
Entrance: A sweeping driveway leads to a paved parking area large enough for several cars plus the garage. The external façade is impressive with multiple verandas, curved stone feature walls and columns all with the backdrop of the amazing views. Steps lead to the main residence in the first floor with a traditional door leading into a spacious open living area with multiple windows. This floor comprises:
Living room: large open seating area with curved feature wall, centrally located fireplace, informal breakfast dining area plus huge formal dining table to the seaward side of the room.
Kitchen: The fully fitted kitchen has plentiful floor and wall storage cupboards plus display shelving in a rich cherry-wood tone with granite style work surfaces.
Bedrooms: Bedrooms 1 and 2 are located on the western elevation of the house, each with patio doors providing access to the wide verandas and all with stunning views. Both bedrooms are generously proportioned and will easily accommodate king-size beds plus the hand-crafted wardrobes and bedroom furniture.
Shower room: The tiled shower room is centrally placed for both bedrooms and the main living room.
Internal staircase: The tiled staircase leads to the lower floor which comprises:
Lower floor open plan living room & kitchen: on a slightly smaller scale than the 1st floor this area provides open-plan seating with patio doors leading to a shaded breakfast terrace plus a fully fitted and equipped kitchen again with plenty of storage cupboards and work surfaces. Doors leading to the side terraces subdivide these 2 areas. The dining room is slightly off-set.
Lower floor bedrooms: There are 2 king-size bedrooms both featuring fitted wardrobes, sliding patio doors and magnificent views.
The 3rd multi-purpose room, currently in use as an occasional guest bedroom, is large enough to be converted to a generous office, gym or work room. There is plenty of space to add bathroom facilities making it an independent suite.
Bathroom: Very spacious family bathroom, with both bathtub and shower cubicle, is located centrally to all rooms on this floor.
Ancillary rooms: a short enclosed hallway leads additional rooms on this floor including a workshop, separate wine cellar, complete with wine barrels plus garage.
External features: The massive, attractively shaped private pool merges with the surrounding scenery. Fully gated and surrounded by paved sun terraces this area appears to perch on the edge of the cliff. However below is the productive olive grove of 50 olive trees and vineyard which is carefully tended to produce the supply of olive oil and wine needed for the owners to entertain their Greek friends. In addition there is a orchard with 40 fruit trees. Next to the pool is a purpose built BBQ area with stone columns and welcome shade. The whole terrace and landscaped gardens are subtly lit for evening entertaining. The rest of the magnificent gardens are completely landscaped and filled with flowering shrubs & feature trees in a natural planting style.
Additional benefits include:
Fireplace with vented hot-air circulatory system
Heat pump heating and cooling system
Solar panel
Satellite on both floors
Multiple fresh water storage tanks totaling 5,000lts
3 phase generator sufficient to run house and pool
